Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy is not getting ahead of himself as his side prepares for its do or die clash with the Western Bulldogs this Sunday. The Bombers must win to make their finals aspirations a reality and Sheedy is not allowing the smell of spring air to distract him from the task at hand.

""I mean it’s up to us to win our game and make the opportunity available for our fans to come along (the following week). It’s up to us really to grab that opportunity."" Sheedy said.

""We’ve had one of those sorts of years where it’s been a medium year and if you can get into a final eight because who have won enough games then you deserve it.

""We’ll keep our mind on the Western Bulldogs, they had a terrific win and a lot of their players played very well last week,"" Sheedy said.

The Bombers return to the Pressure Cooker this weekend where they will face a resurgent Bulldogs side that trounced the Kangaroos last week. Sheedy is well aware that it will be no stroll in the park for his men come 2pm Sunday.

""They got a lot of good running goals and they really played well against the Kangaroos last week,"" Sheedy said. ""They weren’t household names either, they had a lot of good performers.""

It promises to be a clash between the next generation with Brent Stanton and Jason Laycock battling against promising Bulldog pair Adam Cooney and Shane Birss. Stanton in particular has been a revelation in the past three weeks and Bomber fans will be hoping for more of the same against a speedy Bulldogs midfield.

Sheedy will also be looking for improvement from a fit Matthew Lloyd, who despite a nagging shoulder complaint managed three goals against Sydney last week. A fit Lloyd could be the difference between September glory and an early exit for fans at Windy Hill.

Sheedy ruled out Adam McPhee (hamstring) but said defender Sean Wellman and forward Damian Cupido (pending a VFL tribunal appearance tonight) were both being considered for a return to senior ranks following injury and stints in the VFL with Bendigo.
