Dear members,

It has certainly been a memorable past few days for the Essendon Football Club and the Watson family.

On the AFL’s night of nights, it was one of our own, Jobe Watson, who stole the show and won the AFL’s most prestigious individual honour, the Brownlow Medal.

The way Jobe has handled himself since winning the medal has been nothing short of exemplary. His modesty, humility and genuine honesty has been a joy to watch and is a true testament of the values his parents, Tim and Susie Watson have instilled in him.

On behalf of everyone at the Essendon Football Club, I would like to extend our congratulations to Jobe Watson on his outstanding achievement.

Jobe winning the 2012 Brownlow Medal is a huge highlight for our club and wonderful recognition for Jobe after his fantastic season in the red and black.

He has worked really hard to get to where he is in his football career and he continues to lead by example both on and off the field. I’ve seen Jobe develop from a young man into the inspirational leader he is today, he is a quality person of great character and this is a well deserved reward for him. It was great to see Jobe acknowledge his teammates and the support he has received from the club on the night.

The 2012 Crichton Medal at Crown next week will be an opportunity for everyone in the Essendon family to congratulate Jobe on his wonderful achievement.

I hope to see as many Essendon members and supporters at the event in what promises to be a huge night for the Club.

Congratulations Jobe on becoming the Essendon Football Club's sixth Brownlow Medallist.
