Mark Johnson and Jason Johnson have dominated the last two Crichton Medal counts. Jason won the club best and fairest award in 2001 and came runner-up to Mark in last year's award. At this stage of the season Essendon fans think the Johnson boys will sweep the pool again in 2003. Both players have had consistent seasons and their attacking style of play makes them integral to the team.

In last week's poll supporters were asked to select the player they thought would be leading the Essendon best and fairest at the half-way mark of the season. Mark Johnson polled 32% of the votes, closely followed by Jason with 31%. Matthew Lloyd and Danny Jacobs were equal third with 13% of the votes and Dean Solomon followed closely with 11% of the votes. Remember to vote each week in the Weekly Poll because one lucky voter will receive two finals' series tickets which includes two tickets to the 2003 Grand Final.

What some of the Essendon fans had to say:
Billie Preston from Ocean Grove says: Not that I’m showing favouritism...but it has to definitely be out of the Johnsons. They have both played great this year, but my money is on Mark simply because he is consistent. JJ has his ups and downs.

Nick Brown from Shepparton says: Danny Jacobs has held the back line together all year he has had some big rolls and I think he deserves it at the moment.

Robert Parry from Hoppers Crossing says: Even though I have voted for Lloyd, reckon it's probably a tie really between Jason Johnson and himself. Wouldn't surprise if Dean Solomon was in the top 5, given his consistency.

Pip from Victoria says: Solly has shown a very strong come back after his injury last season. I think he is in with a good chance!

Jarrod Shaw from Victoria says: I think Mark has really stood up so far this season. He has kicked a couple of goals and played really well down back. He has also finally taken on a midfield role, which has been quite successful.

Dimi from Croydan says: I personally think people don't give a lot of credit to Danny Jacobs. He is always every week the best player. Just because he doesn't kick 5 goals each week, don't mean people should avoid him and act like he did nothing.

Nandoz from Blackburn says: Danny Jacobs, the Rock for us in defence, our leading mark taker must me in the hunt for the best and fairest, and although Jason Johnson has been our leading midfielder, he has not had the year that he had last year so far. Danny had taken much more effect in the back half, shutting down key forwards week after week and being our prime defender up to this point, as Dustin Fletcher has been battling injuries up to this point. Possibly he may be in the running for All Australian Selection, being a star in the struggling Bomber outfit so far this year.

This week's poll asks - Which player will get the job on Nick Riewoldt?
a. Danny Jacobs
b. Sean Wellman
c. Dustin Fletcher
d. Mark Bolton
e. Aaron Henneman
f. other
