Essendon faces an anxious wait today to find out the extent of the damage to the left knee of star mid-fielder Joe Misiti. Misiti fell awkwardly during the third quarter of last Thursday night's clash with Carlton and immediately grabbed at his knee before leaving the ground. ""They will have a look inside the knee today and that will give us a better idea of what damage has been done,"" Essendon football manager Matthew Drain said. Club officials are hopeful the arthroscope will only reveal some minor cartilage damage that can be repaired immediately.
In other injury news, Dean Rioli looks likely to miss another weeks after straining his hamstring against Port Adelaide. Chris Heffernan continues to make good progress as he recovers from a dislocated knee cap. His first senior game this season could be the Bombers round eight Grand Final replay with Melbourne. Draftee Michael Davis missed the VFL match against Carlton last Thursday because of a groin strain but will play against Port Melbourne this Saturday.
Both Damien Hardwick and Dean Wallis who returned from injury last weekend pulled up well from their first games of the season.
