The Essendon players were put through a sharp 45-minute session this morning to wind up preparations for tomorrow's Preliminary Final against Hawthorn. And Bomber coach Kevin Sheedy decided he would get a different perspective on proceedings during the session. Halfway through the session Sheedy and assistant development coach David Flood climbed on to the top of the club's administration building to get a bird's eye view on a couple of training drills. Sheedy spent about 15-minutes on the roof watching and instructing from above.
Dean Wallis moved well during the session and now looks a certain starter against Hawthorn tomorrow. Wallis was yesterday named in the Essendon side despite having not played since round four against Sydney. Dustin Fletcher and Dean Rioli both trained lightly as did John Barnes and James Hird who did some individual skill work. Barnes and Hird rarely join in full scale training in the final session of each week.
""Dean looks to have come through the session well which is great news,"" Essendon football manager Matthew Drain said. ""It was a good quality session this morning and the players are keen to get on with the job. They have freshened up very well so hopefully the week off has been a bonus.""
Suspended full forward Matthew Lloyd worked very hard on the track and was in good spirits despite the fact he will be watching tomorrow's match from the stands. After training, Sheedy took the players behind closed doors to discuss the side's approach to the cut-throat final.
