Season 2004 was a special year for Nathan Lovett-Murray. Elevated from the rookie list, Lovett-Murray played 20 of 24 senior games, booting 21 goals and providing plenty of excitement for Essendon supporters. To the surprise of some, Lovett-Murray was placed back on the rookie list but fans agree he needs to work very hard on all facets of his game to capitalise on his undoubted talent.

""Loves a goal. I just hope he will love a pass, a tackle and a shepherd as much when he no doubt gets his chance in 2005 and beyond. A great future if he works hard enough for it,"" Rod Miller

""Has a ton of ability, but it is going to be hard to fit both Nathan & Damien Cupido in the same side. Nathan will have to work toward greater consistency,"" Corey Sleep

""Flamboyant and a great mark. A little inconsistent but with games I think he will be a key fixture in the forward line,"" Mark Doran

""Has freakish skills in that he is super quick for his build and can kick the ball a country mile. Would like to see him be more consistent and attack the footy a bit harder at times. Will be a long-term half forward,"" Peter Ridgway

""Great first full season. Lacks a bit of attack on the footy and needs to bulk up. But he will get there. Cupido and Lovett-Murray in a forward pocket next to Lloyd will be extremely strong! Can't wait to see what he will give us in 2005! Best of luck!"" Josh Little

""Hooley dooly what a talent! When he gets the ball we just know something special can happen. Work hard in the pre-season, don’t let the second year blues get to you and let your natural talent show through,"" Graeme Waters

""Started to struggle a bit late in the season, which is normal for a first year player, but really gave us something earlier. Has obvious gaps in his game, like next to no defensive skills, but can also turn a game with five minutes of brilliance,"" Geoffrey Hope

""Nathan had a great first up season. Was surprised he wasn't elevated to the senior list. He has unlimited potential and can virtually play any position on the field. Not to forget the excitement he generates whenever he goes near the ball,"" Robert Lorenzetto
