Star Essendon forward Scott Lucas kicked two goals for the Bombers against the Kangaroos last Friday night which saw him reach the 150-goal milestone. It has taken Lucas 93 games to reach the 150-career goal mark. Should he repeat his 50-plus goal effort of 2000, the 200-goal figure is also within his reach in 2001. And fellow forward Matthew Lloyd is also creeping up on another milestone. Lloyd's four goals took him to within five goals of moving into the club's top ten goalkickers of all time. Lloyd has 358 career goals - 10th placed Tom Reynolds has 362 goals.

Other points of interest for those who enjoy the stats included Paul Barnard's four-goal effort. The performance matched his personal best goal kicking feat of four which he achieved in last year's Grand Final. Mark Bolton kicked a goal with his first kick when he came onto the ground on Friday night - it was his first goal in the seniors since the Bombers played Melbourne in round 22 of the 1999 season.

And finally, if history counts for anything the Bombers will be high on confidence when they take on Port Adelaide this Friday night. The 2000 Premiership flag will be unfurled and at the three previous flag unfurlings the Bombers have scored wins. In round 2 of the 1985 season Essendon defeated Hawthorn, in round two of the 1986 season Essendon defeated Geelong and in round one of the 1994 season Essendon defeated West Coast at the MCG. Let's hope history repeats itself!!
