On Sunday 24 February, the Essendon Football Club will stage its annual Community Day at QueensPark, Moonee Ponds. Community Day provides a great opportunity for fans to get up close and personal with their favourite Essendon heroes before they commence the 2008 season proper.
The Community Day will be staged as part of the Moonee Valley Festival again this year at Queen's Park in Moonee Ponds in order to engage more closely with the local community. The festival also celebrates local art, music and culture.
Essendon's activities will run from 10am until 12noon and throughout this time Bomber fans will have the chance to get up close and personal with their favourite Essendon players by grabbing an autograph at the autograph marquee or a picture with their heroes at the Samsung photo marquee.
The highlight of the day is sure to be the traditional guernsey presentation where Matthew Knights will present the entire team with their 2008 jumper for the very first time.
And don't forget to wear clean socks because the Essendon boys will be waiting to fit you for your brand new pair of Puma boots on the day. Plus, if you bring along your old pair of boots, you can donate them into the Boots for All collection bin to be redistributed within disadvantaged football communities.
Merchandise and membership stalls will also be on hand, so make sure you stock up with all the latest Bomber gear so you can look the part throughout the season ahead.
The Essendon cheersquad is a fantastic way for Club members to get involved with and help out their club. The cheersquad help out with making the banner for all Essendon games, providing support at various club functions and events and, most importantly, cheering the team on and making some noise at the game!
