A long tradition has continued at Windy Hill with recruit Anthony Long receiving the No.13 guernsey, made famous by his champion uncle, Michael.

""We are fortunate to have some great history at Essendon in terms of family lines with Dustin Fletcher, Jobe Watson and Jay Neagle and their dads and it is exciting to have the nephew of Michael Long here,"" General manager of football operation Paul Hamilton said.

""We were really pleased to offer Anthony his uncle's old number and he happily accepted. We don't want to put too much pressure on him but we are proud of our heritage and tradition and this is a way to reinforce our link to the past.

""They are different types of players but have some similar traits and we hope Anthony will be able to play some good football for the club like his uncle did.""

Essendon has confirmed all 2010 player numbers ahead of the NAB Cup. The new allocations include:

Michael Hurley - No.18

""We spoke to Matthew Lloyd and he was keen to pass his jumper onto a player for the 2010 season and he nominated young Michael Hurley. As a club we were very happy to meet Matthew's request and for him to choose Michael for his No.18 shows how highly he considers him,"" Hamilton said.

Travis Colyer - No.32

""Travis is going to run around tonight against West Coast in what is an iconic jumper number for this club. He is only a little fella in stature but he has already shown a lot of promise and is really exciting. With the character he has we decided to give him the number that Tim Watson had such an outstanding career in,"" Hamilton said

Michael Still - No.25

""We drafted Michael as a 17-year-old and he did his year 12 studies in 2009 and had a reduced football program. Scott Lucas was very pleased for Michael to wear the number that he wore so well is his career. Michael is also a big, strong marking key-forward who we will see play tonight. Roger Merrett also wore No.25 so there is a tradition of having similar types wear the same number,"" Hamilton said.

Other number allocations are:

Mark Williams - No.33
Taite Silverlock - No.35
Jake Melksham - No.17
Marcus Marigliani - No.47
Ben Howlett - No.40
Kyle Hardingham - No.34
Stewart Crameri - No.45
Jake Carlisle - No.22
