""I was quite surprised when I found out on Monday, I just don’t really know what to say about it. I’m just happy to get it out of the way, it’s been a pretty long year and hopefully to this stage I have played pretty good football,"" Stanton said.
The BomberLand team caught up with Stanton about the year so far:
Goals:
I sat down with the recruiting manager, Adrian Dodoro at the start of the season and set some goals. My aim was to play five senior games or so, so it has worked out pretty. I’m just happy to be a part of the side at the moment.
Influences on his football at Windy Hill:
The biggest influences on me so far at the club have been Jason Johnson and Hirdy. They are both midfield players and have been pretty inspiring. Watching what they do when they play and just learning from that is really good.
Playing with Hird:
Obviously I have watched football for a fair while, especially James Hird because he is such a good player. So just to come down here and actually meet him and play a game that I love with him is quite amazing.
Style of play:
I’ve been told throughout my junior career to just get the ball and run and it’s been really helpful to get down here and be told exactly the same thing.
Sheedy on Stanton:
We’ve played every recruit over the past year just about, except for Jay Nash, it’s very unusual. Brent has played double figure games now - there haven’t been many players that have come in and played 10 games or more in their first year. It is a fantastic effort.
Mates at the club:
I was drafted with Ricky Dyson, who I played with at the Northern Knights. It has been a lot easier getting to know all the younger guys especially when they get a ago in the seniors.
Thoughts on the Bombers:
It was good to get a win on the board against Collingwood, especially coming up to the finals. If we win from know on in we should make the finals so it’s quite exciting
