Bomber forward Scott Lucas said today that the past 22 rounds of home and away football count for nothing.

Lucas was speaking at an AFL press conference that he attended along with Kangaroo star Corey McKernan.

"As far as we are concerned we are on equal footing with the four other sides that earned the double chance," Lucas said.

"What has happened prior to this point in time means nothing - tomorrow is the start of a whole new ball game."

Lucas said the finals excitement had definitely arrived at Windy Hill and the players were desperate for the action to begin.

"It has been very noticeable on the training track. We have been pretty sharp this week and the feeling has been different to that during the season proper."

Lucas looked to be returning to some of his best form against Collingwood last weekend taking 10 marks.

"I needed to lift and hopefully it's the start of some good football over the next month," Lucas said.

"The form of most players tends to ebb and flow during the season and I just hope mine is on the improve."
