Essendon didn’t do its finals aspirations any favours this evening at AAMI Stadium. Adelaide destroyed the Bombers from the opening bounce with its ferocious attack on the ball and run through the mid-field. The visitors had no answers for the in form Crows who demolished them by 41 points. Essendon’s undisciplined play proved costly throughout the course of the match. They conceded 31 free kicks for the game.
Kevin Sheedy has been the coach of Essendon longer than a fair percentage of the population has been alive. Next season will be his 24th year at the helm and also the end of his two-year coaching contract. Essendon chairman Graeme McMahon said earlier this week that he believes Sheedy should continue to coach the Bombers for the following five years. “Whatever happens after my contract I am not sure. I am open minded about it. I am capable of coaching until I am 60 no matter where it is,” Sheedy said on Channel 7 news this evening.
