Essendon today commenced the job of trimming its senior list with four players given the news that they would not be returning in 2006. Marc Bullen, Damian Cupido, Ben Haynes and Sam Hunt were all de-listed in separate meetings held with Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy, chairman of selectors Kevin Egan and recruiting and welfare manager Adrian Dodoro.

Cupido joined Essendon in 2003, after having played 13 games with the Brisbane Lions. In his 40 games with the Bombers, he kicked 50 goals and made an instant impact in his first year with the club.

However, 2004 was a year Cupido would rather forget, crippled by a knee injury that restricted him to only six games. This season the 23-year-old made 11 senior appearances in 2005 for a return of six goals.

Haynes played five games at Richmond before being drafted to Essendon via the 2002 Rookie draft. In his three years at the club, he has managed to add another 21 games to his career tally. Unlucky with injuries, Haynes played four games in the early stages of 2005 before breaking his arm in round six against Brisbane.

After a solid 2004, it was expected that Bullen would take the next step this year. He managed seven games to take his career tally to 44 games in his five seasons at the club.

Recruited from the Geelong Falcons at number 32 in the 2000 draft, Hunt managed seven games in his time at the club. He made his debut in 2002, playing three games that season but didn’t return to the seniors until 2005.
