BOMBERS TOP UP ROOKIE LIST
Essendon today added three players to its rookie list for season 2002. The rookie draft was conducted at Colonial Stadium this morning and the Bombers selected Scott Howard (Calder Cannons / selection 15), Adam Winter (Calder Cannons / 31) and Ken Hall (Essendon VFL side / North Hobart / 46). The trio join Marcus Kenny who was retained on the Essendon rookie list at the completion of last season. The Bombers are hopeful the trio can bring them further ""rookie list"" success. Previous selections to play senior football include Gary Moorcroft, Mark Johnson, Dean Rioli and Damien Peverill. Adrian Dodoro assessed the three new additions for Bomberland users.

Scott Howard
Dodoro says: ""An 18-year-old who played in the Calder Cannons premiership side and was among their best players in that game. He is a 186cm right-footer who has good pace and endurance. He has poise, is balanced and has really impressed us during the pre-season. He can play in a number of positions.""
Adam Winter
Dodoro says: ""He is an 18-year-old who played at full forward for the Calder Cannons and kicked three goals in the Grand Final - he probably could have kicked six or seven if he had kicked straight. He has strong hands and is a very big right foot kick. He is 193cm and is a real focal point in front of goal.""
Ken Hall
Dodoro says: ""Ken is a 20-year-old who played with our VFL side last season as a supplementary list player after coming over from North Hobart. He played with the Tassie Mariners prior to that. He was outstanding in the second half of the season for the VFL side both deep in defence and in the mid-field. He is very hard at the football and he might even develop into the sort of player who could replace Damien Hardwick. He is also a very big kick.""
For the remainder of December and into the New Year, the Engine Room will be running profiles of each player on the Essendon senior list. We will have a look at what went right in 2001 and what went wrong. What will the coaching staff want from each player and how might they be used in 2002. Today we take a look at MARC BULLEN. The youngster from the Murray Bushrangers made an excellent start to his AFL career last season. If he can continue his rate of improvement he could play a significant role for the Bombers in 2002.
