Earlier this year Whitemade the claim on radio that if Essendon missed the top eight he would walk allthe way to Sorrento.
The walk is raising importantfunds for the Relay for Life charity supporting the Cancer Council and theNational Jockey’s Trust.
Essendon chiefexecutive officer Ian Robson said the Essendon Football Club was fullysupportive of the walk raising money for charity.
“I was there this morningto walk the first kilometer as how you start is all about how you set up thefinish in these things,” Robson said.
“We are going to helpwith some donated items to the two charities which as you know are very closeto us at the club particularly Relay for Life that we get involved in everyyear.”
Adam chose the CancerCouncil’s Relay for Life charity as one to raise money for after a number ofpersonal experiences with cancer throughout his life.
'My mother-in-law MaryRobinson passed away from cancer just months before our wedding from anaggressive form of stomach cancer. It was an incredibly tough time for thefamily, but through the inspirational leadership of my wife Emma, the familyhas been determined to raise money to fight back against the terrible diseaseand also raise awareness of the impact cancer has on friends and families,”White said.
'I also had two of myclosest friends at school James Logan and Tiffany Jacobs pass away as a resultof a cancer-related illness. At 35 years of age, married to my wife Emma and abeautiful little one-month old boy Campbell, our whole life is ahead of us.James and Tiffany did not get the chance to feel that same feeling of happinessand fulfillment, their passing was a reality to me not to take life forgranted, however old you are.”
