The return to football of midfielder DavidZaharakis was one of the few shining lights for the Bombers in yesterday’s 96-pointloss to Carlton at the MCG.

Zaharakis collected eleven disposals in hisfirst game back from a ten-week lay off with a quad injury.

The 22-year-old said yesterday’s match wasa step in the right direction as he looks to regain his best form.

“It felt good to play footy again but itwas a bit frustrating that I didn’t have that explosive pace or the ability tokick long,” Zaharakis said.

“It was disappointing I didn’t have theexplosive run that I had earlier in the season but that will hopefully come inthe next two weeks.”

Zaharakis said the midfield group lost tomany clearances, making the task of the Bombers defensive unit almostimpossible.

“We got beaten up around the middle of theball, we couldn’t get any centre bounce clearances going our way which makes itpretty hard,” he said.

“We put our backs under pressure and they justgot goals from there.”
