There is so much excitement about the Bombers' 2010 season with many questions waiting to be answered.
In this week's poll we want to know what would be your Christmas wish for the upcoming season? Maybe you want to see Paddy Ryder named All-Australian or possibly you would like big Jason Laycock to deliver on his potential.
Recently we asked 'who is Essendon's most important small forward?' and Angus Monfries was the run-away winner with 64.95% of the vote from Mark Williams with 19.6% while Alwyn Davey had 12.67% and Leroy Jetta recieved just 1.99%.
Here is what some of the fans had to say:
Daniel W from Aireys Inlet, Vic says: Angus Monfries had a stand out year this year and is easily our most important small forward. It will be good next year to see how he works with Mark Williams in our forward set up.
Greg Sloan from Somerville VIC says: Williams may turn out to be our most important small forward, but he will have to play very well to exceed the contributions of an ever improving Angus Monfries.
Patrick Esposito from Werribee says: I think that most people aren't giving Leroy Jetta a chance. He can play really good football if he puts his mind to it and he can also play midfield. So we all need to give him a chance and lets try and get him in our best 22.
Edward from Engadine, NSW says: Angus is very important but could be more damaging by getting more possessions closer to goal. Many of his possessions are too far away to score.
Cory Williams from Victoria says: I think Alwyn is super important to us, if he can get back to some really high pressure tackling in our forward line it would produce alot more opportunities for our other guys like Willy, Gus, Gumby, Zaka and Alwyn himself.
Anthony Maguire from Neerim South Victoria says: Angus Monfries is our most important small forward because he leads at the ball very hard, and he is almost impossible to stop when he gets a run on at the footy. He also leads up to the half forward/wing area and contests the ball and gets numerous inside 50's per game.
Sammy from Yolla, Tassie says: Davey is a gun.
John Calleja from Adelaide says: An injury free Alwyn Davey is one to watch in 2010, lets hope we see him a lifewire around the fwd line
Leigh from Caroline Springs says: It's tempting to say Mark Williams but I believe Davey would be because of his exhilirating pace, defensive pressure in the forward line which we look like we really lack when he is out and ability to be dangerous in front of goal on the run. Angus's role will only become more important as time goes by and Williams will definitely be an important participant in our forward line in 2010.
Heath Fitzpatrick from Melbourne says: Monfries should be playing in the midfield. Ultimately Williams is our most important small ""Forward"". Kicking goals is all that matters really and Williams delivers that. Davey is our little X-Factor, he can turn a game like the best of them. As for Jetta, bit underdone by our supporters in my opinion, but actually giving him a chance will usually help.
Len Clark from Belrose NSW says: I'm surprised Reimers was not listed as one of the Bomber's small forwards, as he does alternate between the wing and half forward flank - has the X factor is spades.
Jennifer Mackie from Gold Coast says: I believe Angus has heaps of potential but at the present time still has a lot to prove.
Jan Di Pietro from NYC says: Monfries plays as both a small and a tall forward and he is far more consistent and damaging in comparison to the other three. I HOPE Davey and Jetta can perform on a regular basis... that would be brilliant, but they don't quite do it at the moment. Not in the way that Angus does.
Mark from Victoria says: Monfries plays a pivotal role in our forward half with both offensive and defensive pressure which, for the style of football we play is a necessity. No doubt that Mark Williams has been added to the list to add some extra fire power to the forward line with the loss of the two big targets. He will become an extremely important small forward - hopefully a 40+ goal scorer.
Nick from Mount Waverley says: Monfries is young and has shown with his forward pressure and goalkicking ability that he is our most important small forward.
Peter from Tas says: Williams could be our secret weapon.
Andrew from Ringwood says: Monfries is easily our most important small forward, hugely underrated. When Lloyd and Lucas stopped providing that leading target, Angus filled in, without him we would have missed finals. If he can perform like he did against Carlton, St.Kilda and Hawthorn every week, he would be an AA certainty.
Joel from Victoria says: All four will hopefully contribute to a fine year next season. Alwyn & Jetta should continue to pressure the opposition when we don't have the footy. Monfries & Williams should provide some medium sized marking targets, that take most opportunities in-front of goal. I voted Williams purely because he is more of a known goal-kicker, and with Lloyd & Lucas retired; we'll need some goals from someone!
James Brown from Berwick, vic says: Monfries! He is a great little player, with the ability to kick bags of goals, take huge marks and provides good defensive pressure. All this could be said about Williams too, but he has injury clouds over him, with his knees. monfries is such a gun, and 5 or so years younger than Williams. Davey was good in his 1st season, but I feel he dropped away this year. Jetta, is yet to prove himself.
Clifford Davison from Sydney NSW says: Whilst Monfries has been important in our forward set up, he seems to struggle to kick enough goals. Likewise Davey is key for his defensive pressure, but again a lack of goals lets him down. Therefore, Mark Williams, though he is yet to kick a footy in anger in the red and black looms as our most important small forward. He is a proven goal kicker who knows his way around the forward line and I look forward to he and Davey working their magic off Gumby, Neagle, Hurley, Ryder, Hille & Co.
