After an exciting start to the 2009 season, the pacy young Bombers have hit a few recent speed hurdles and have limped into the mid-season break.
In this week's poll we ask fans if, after a number of years in the finals wilderness, they are confident the side will play in the business of the season this year?
Last week we asked which VFL player you most want back in Essendon's team and Kyle Reimers was the narrow winner (34.39%) from Brent Prismall (32.72%), Andrew Welsh (15.95%), Scott Lucas (12.29%), Jason Laycock (2.82%) and David Myers (1.83%).
Here is what some of the fans had to say:
Rod from Hurstbridge says: The guy I'm really looking forward to seeing back most isn't even on the list! Dustin Fletcher! That said, of those identified, Welsh and Prismall both have a huge amount to offer. Welsh is one guy capable of doing a great job on the Ablett's of this world.
Adam Fry from Rockhampton says: I dont know where to look, honestly where is the fire going to come from, I can't see it anywhere at all. Also it's a worry when we can't win a game in the VFL, that's where our future is.
Anne from Sydenham Vic says: Pity we can't vote for more than one player because I would like to see Reimers, Prismall and Welsh all playing senior football.
Peter Castledine from Fern Tree Gully says: I think Prismall should come in, he has shown enought for Bendigo to come back in plus Reimers to add some spark up forward.
James from Berwick, Vic says: Prismall will add some class to our midifeld. he is a very good player and will definately be good for our side. Reimers has a lot of agression and will bring in a bit of fight to our side... i think fight and ferocious-ness is something we could do with a bit more of. Welsh is an experienced head, and i'd love to see him back too. He is a bit of a fix it man, being able to play in any area of the ground. The players respect him, and will follow his example. Lucas will bring some structure to our forward line. We blaze away far to many times. Laycock HAS to come back to help out Paddy. Myers...well he has been disappointing this year.
Matt Hobbs from Ballarat says: I cant wait to see Prismall in the team. Should add some class to the midfield.
Nathan from Su says: Welsh has just gotta come back. What's so good about Brent Prismal?? His just a former Geelong player, and he wansn't that good when he was with the Cats.
Rob Fisher from Kangaroo Flat says: Gee we have a lot of silly people that support the Bombers. Seeing that Prismall is YET to play a game for Essendon he shouldn't be included in this poll and yet most have voted for someone who is ineligible. Probably IVAR & his mates.

Liam from Bendigo, Victoria says: Brent Prismall will be great for Essendon in the coming years, Prismall & Ryder will be similar to Lloyd & Hird in the old days.
Mark Elze from Albanvale,Victoria. says: Brent Prismall is the obvious selection choice for Rnd 11 with 30 possesions in the VFL.1 more week for Reimers then bring him in.
Bill McKiernan from Port Melbourne says: Prismall. Geelong's loss was our gain....real hard nut who delivers the ball well....silky smooth skills. Never seen a player train as hard as this kid.
Gareth from Tas says: Prisa for sure, a stronger experienced body in close would be handy to assist Watson although some ruck stocks after big Tom going down with a knee on the weekend would be handy...Can't wait for both Welsh and Reimers to get back in the side also....exciting times ahead GO BOMBERS
Andrea from Berwick says: Kyle is fearless and exciting, he has the spark we are looking for
