Nine-year-old Angus Caldow has put his money where his heart lies.

Angus is Essendon’s latest donor to the Flight Plan campaign – a project to build the new $30 million training and administration facility at the Melbourne Airport.

This year Edenhope, a town in Victoria located 30 kilometres from the South Australian border, had a new football tipping guru in Angus.

The Edenhope youngster polled 146 correct tips over the duration of the season in the town’s golf club competition, tallying three perfect rounds of eight and taking out the $150 cash prize for finishing in first place ahead of 60 others.

A dedicated and mighty Bombers fan, Angus was asked by his parents – Clayton and Sophie – what he was going to do with his winnings, with the youngster expressing his intention in donating it to Essendon’s Flight Plan project.

Donors of $250 or more receive a donor badge, a letter of recognition and their name on the honour wall at the new facility. Clayton gladly pitched in to make up the deficit with Angus already excited to see his name up on the wall.

Essendon CEO Ian Robson said the Club was extremely grateful for the amazing generosity of young Angus.

“A story like this is as much humbling as it is inspiring for everyone in the Essendon family,” Robson said.

“Every now and again we hear, see or read something that reminds us just how privileged we are to be a part of this great club.

“Thank you to Angus, his family and all the Essendon supporters who have already made a donation to the Flight Plan.”

Modest Angus said he would love to see the new facility built as soon as possible, but he’d rather see his beloved Bombers take out a premiership first.
