What some of the Essendon fans had to say:

""Damien is the 'smart bomb' in the Essendon artillery - you launch him, and no matter what, he will find the ball and bang it on someone's chest. What would we have done without his tireless efforts?"" Darren Matthews.

""Damien's endeavour on the ball and will to tackle the player with it was absolutely fantastic. I can tip he'll be in Essendon's top 3 next season,"" Zachary Hubber.

""What a legend!!! Damien has consistently played a great game of footy and I think that he should be vice captain. He is, however, constantly overlooked when people think about the best Essendon players at the moment. I believe that this is because he is perhaps not as attractive as James Hird but he is just as good in my opinion!!"" Jess McKinnon

""Never ever lets the team down. Has shed his tagger image, and is now a prolific ball getter himself, while still being able to stop an opposition player. Next aim is All Australian just like Brett Kirk,"" John Kerr.

""Pev really came on this year and showed a level of confidence not seen since that infamous broken arm incident. Needs to now become a key member of the mid-field in 2005,"" David Brown.

""A good return to form for Damien. Needs to kick a few more goals when busting from the defensive side of a stoppage and running into the forward 50."" Nicholas Treanor.
