Alwyn Davey and Leroy Jetta will form an electrifying partnership in the Essendon midfield in season 2008. Today they were on hand to announce another great partnership between Essendon and Samsung.

It seemed only fitting today that Essendon’s shortest players helped launch the Bombers’ new shorts partner for season 2008 – Samsung.

Essendon players will wear the new Samsung shorts for the first time when the Bombers take on Brisbane in the NAB Cup opener on the Gold Coast this Saturday night.

“We are thrilled that we have been able to grow our relationship with Samsung to now include the shorts partnership,” Essendon’s chief of commercial operations Mark Anderson said today.

“Samsung joined Essendon as our technology partner last season. Based on the success of the existing partnership, Samsung has agreed to increase its involvement with us in 2008.

“Samsung is a company that has a reputation for innovation and being at the cutting edge. As an elite sporting Club that is what we aim to do both on and off the field so there are some real synergies between us.”

As part of the shorts’ partnership, Samsung has already provided some of its cutting edge technology to the Club, with players and coaches benefiting from this additional support.

“Samsung enjoyed a great first year with Essendon in 2007 and as a result, have increased its status from technology to shorts partner in 2008. The popularity of AFL and Essendon’s great reputation was the perfect platform for increasing our brand exposure and communicating our ongoing commitment to Australian sport,” said Kurt Jovais, General Manager - Corporate Marketing, Samsung Australia.
