RIOLI CLEARED OF STRIKING CHARGE
Dean Rioli has been found not guilty of striking Gavin Wanganeen in the first Semi Final against Port Adelaide last weekend. The decision is welcome news for Essendon after having recent tribunal outcomes go against the club, including the suspension of full back Dustin Fletcher last week.
Dean Rioli has been found not guilty of striking Gavin Wanganeen in the first Semi Final against Port Adelaide last weekend. The decision is welcome news for Essendon after having recent tribunal outcomes go against the club, including the suspension of full back Dustin Fletcher last week.Rioli will now be free to play in the Bombers' Round 1 match in 2004, however Fletcher will miss that match in serving out his suspension.
Essendon will play Fremantle in Round 1 of the pre-season Wizard Cup competition. The match will be played in Darwin at Marrara Oval on the weekend of February 20th, 2004. The pre-season competition will again follow a knock out format. Essendon is in Group A of the draw, which includes Adelaide, St.Kilda, Western Bulldogs, Richmond, Hawthorn and Brisbane.
