In just a few hours time, Essendon will welcome two new players to its list following the 2013 AFL National Draft on the Gold Coast.
The club will go in to the draft with two live selections including picks 26 and 55, and will use 64 to elevate rookie Lauchlan Dalgleish to the senior list.
Due to the penalties handed down by the AFL in August, Essendon will not have a first round selection at tonight’s event, adding further intrigue as to who the club will take with its second and third round selections.

Senior coach Mark Thompson said that he believed the club would be able to secure two quality players with the later draft picks.
“We go through a process but we’re expecting two good picks. I’m a big believer that if we do the right work, have a criteria and stick to it, you can get good players anywhere in the draft,” Thompson said.
“I think we’ll get some good players (tonight). With the new facility, if we put in the right infrastructure around the players that we recruit, we can develop them in to really good players.”
