Essendon forward Cory Dell’Olio has stared witha five-goal haul against Collingwood in the club’s VFL practice match againstCollingwood at Victoria Park on Saturday.

The 23-year-old played an important role upforward in the Bombers come from behind 24-point win. 

“Cory’s forward pressure was really goodand he was able to add that to the scoreboard as well,” Coach Hayden Skipwothsaid.

Nick O’Brien proved important working hardacross half forward getting plenty of the ball and setting up the play. 

Skipworth said he was impressed by theperformance of O’Brien.

“Nick was really good this afternoon, hewas probably our most consistent performer across the four quarters,” he said. 

“He played high half forward and got hit upa lot and saw plenty of the ball during the match.”

Big man Scott Gumbleton looked to be movingwell in his first hit out of the pre-season. 

“Gumby played the first three quarters andjust continued to improve as the game went on, he continued to move more freelyand just got better and better,” Skipworth said.

The Bombers trailed by 23 points at halftime but youngster Will Hams came bursting out of the blocks to fire the awayside up in the third quarter. 

Hams drove the Bombers forward on a numberof occasions as they booted three goals in a minute to open the third term.

“Will had a really good game, in the thirdquarter he really got us going and found the footy, in particular around thecontest,” Skipworth said.
