Essendon forward Stewart Crameri performed strongly at training on Tuesday morning and is expected to return from injury against Collingwood on ANZAC Day at the MCG.

Crameri was a late withdrawal from the Round 4 match against St. Kilda with a knee complaint involving a blood vessel in his knee that burst.

Bombers coach James Hird said after the game that with a 10-day break between matches he would expect Crameri to be fit to take on Collingwood.

Crameri ran freely on Tuesday morning taking part in all of the drills including plenty of heavy bodywork and running drills.

Football Operations manager Steve Alessio said he expected Crameri to be in line for selection on Thursday.

“If all goes well we expect him to put his hand up and vye for selection on Thursday,” Alessio said.

“Let’s hope he can put his hand up and we field a great team for ANZAC Day.”

Michael Hurley was restricted to walking laps around the oval after already being ruled out of Thursday afternoon’s match.
