The 21-year-old’s season was cut short when he required surgery following the club’s Round 22 clash against Carlton.
Heppell returned from his off-season break on Wednesday joining a group of the club’s first to fourth year players and hopes to be able to join a group of mostly senior Bombers heading to Boulder on November 30.
“I am penciled in at the moment (for Boulder) but I will see the surgeon in a fortnight and will get a scan,” Heppell said.
“If everything looks clear I will be right to go and it will be something to really look forward to.”
Heppell is confident his recovery is tracking well and is hopeful the surgery will not affect his 2014 pre-season campaign.
“The foot is coming along really well, I started back into some running and things like that,” he said.
“It has been pulling up really well after sessions so I am looking forward to getting back into things with the boys.”
The young Bomber admits he found it difficult being stuck in a moonboot for most of his break.
“For the first five or six weeks it was frustrating that I couldn’t really do a lot and I am sick of the watt bikes and the pool now,” Heppell said.
“It was good to get some time away in Bali and Sydney and just be able to freshen up.”
He said the players were really excited and enthusiastic about the move to the High Performance Centre.
“We had a bit of an induction around the new facility, it is very exciting. The facility is amazing, “ Heppell said.
“We met some new staff and players as well which makes it a very exciting time for the football club.”
