Essendon Football Club will again set its sights on the Hume Highway when the club visits the Rural City of Benalla early next year as part of the Australia Post AFL Community Camps.

Situated between Euroa and Wangaratta, the club will spend time engaging with the local residents of Benalla and its surrounding regions with a local super clinic, player meet and greet sessions, a Benalla-based formal reception and school and community visits.

Essendon Community Manager Cameron Britt said the club was looking forward to immersing itself in such picturesque part of regional Victoria.

“We enthusiastically embrace the community camp concept, and understand the positive influence of taking our club ‘on the road’ and out to the communities of our members and fans,” Britt said.

“Regional and remote communities often miss the opportunities so commonly available for urban-based fans, and the camp model provides a great opportunity to directly pay back the loyalty and support we receive from our many regional supporters.”

The club will visit Benalla from February 4-5 in 2014. Further activity information will follow in the New Year.
