Chapman officially started his first week of training with his new teammates in Melbourne earlier this week.
The 32-year-old said he was excited by the Bombers' development over the last few seasons.
“I have really been looking forward to coming down here and now I am just really looking forward to getting out there and playing,” Chapman said.
“The group has a bit of heart and soul about them, they want to win, there are a lot of good players at this football club and I thought that I would fit in well.
“Hopefully I can help contribute to doing something special which we all want to do.”
Chapman said he was happy to be working with his premiership coach Mark Thompson again in 2014.
“He has been very vocal, he knows the way he wants the game to be played and how he wants to boys to play it.”
“It has been the same old Bomber T for me, he knows what he wants and he will do what he needs to.
“I am really looking forward to the opportunity to be playing with new guys, playing a new way, back under Bomber and it is all very exciting.”
After playing just eight senior matches in 2013 the Norm Smith medalist understands why people would question his durability heading into the upcoming season.
“It’s easy to do that, isn’t it – just look at the previous year and say ‘ he was injured this year, so what going to happen next year?,” he said.
“I’ve been pretty durable.. I can handle the demands of AFL footy.
“People say ‘is it a punt, are they taking a punt on recruiting me?’ – I don’t think it’s a punt at all.”
Chapman did not travel to Boulder on the club’s high altitude camp because he and his partner have just moved from Geelong to Melbourne and are expecting their first child in seven weeks.
