Andrew Close is as passionate Essendon supporter as you’ll find.

For the past 4 years, rain, hail or shine he, and his trusty Seeing Eye dog, Matilda, would attend every Bombers game.

However the pair’s ritual was cut short last season, when Matilda was tragically killed after being attacked by a pack of dangerous dogs.

But with the NAB Cup just around the corner, the Club received the great news that Andrew wouldn’t be heading to the football alone in 2013.

After hearing Andrew had been paired up with a new Seeing Eye dog named, Orca, the players invited the pair along to training.

Orca, didn’t take long to get acquainted with the players she’ll be supporting this season.

And it’s fair to say the Black Labrador has a fan club of her own, with the players keen to give her a pat and welcome her to the Club.

After a chat with Senior Coach James Hird, Andrew and Orca had a photo with the entire playing group.

Before Captain, Jobe Watson, presented Orca with a new Bombers coat and scarf, which is sure to keep her warm on cold days at the footy.
