Essendon Football Club is pleased to announce it has already reduced its debt by over $1 million as part of The Flight Plan initiative.

The Club’s debt currently sits at $3,989,019, previously at a total of $5 million, with over $1 million contributed to the Flight Plan in the past three months alone.

Chief Executive Officer Ray Gunston said it was an encouraging outcome ahead of the Christmas period.

“We are incredibly grateful to our members and supporters who have donated to the Flight Plan and assisted the club in creating a world-class training facility at the True Value Solar Centre,” Gunston said.

“It is important that our members and supporters know that the funds raised through the Flight Plan campaign are solely for the construction of the True Value Solar Centre and not for any other purpose.

“From a financial perspective the club remains in a sound position but we still have a lot of hard work ahead of us to reduce the remaining debt as quickly as possible.”

The $1 million target has been reached through the sponsorship of player lockers, flight plan donations and donations that our 2014 members have already contributed.
