I was fortunate to experience Essendon’s charity work first-hand last year when I presented Cancer Council Victoria CEO Todd Harper with a cheque from our co major partner KIA for $25,000 during a fundraising event at half-time in our Call to Arms match.
I escaped having my head shaved on that occasion, but it did make me consider how the club supports our charity partners and how we should consider our responsibility.
Essendon partners with a number of charity causes and considers this an important part of its community engagement. I am pretty happy about this work, as I value the work and value that charities provide our community.
I personally like supporting opportunities to engage and help youth, and Essendon does this via its education programs, but also through charity partnerships with groups like Boots For All and the Bully Zero Australia Foundation.
I’m hoping to get further involved in this work as my career progresses at Bomberland.
