Essendon is continuing its hunt to add another big man to its list with a number of ruckman linked with the club In recent days.

Senior coach James Hird signalled the club's intention of adding further depth to their ruck stocks early in the trade period which closes on Thursday.

Reports suggest Jonathan Giles (GWS), Luke Lowden (Hawthorn) and Daniel Gorringe (Gold Coast) have all met with the club over the last week showing an interest in joining the Bombers.

"There is no doubt we obviously need to bring in another ruckman with Paddy potentially not being here," Hird said last week.

"There is certainly some work we need to do around our ruck stocks which allows Joey (Daniher) to stay forward so we will be looking at that area."

Gorringe is a 22 year old ruck prospect who is currently contracted at Gold Coast, but has requested a trade in search of more senior opportunities.

He has suffered injury setbacks over the last few years playing 20 games in four season at the Suns.

Greater Western Sydney big man Giles is also in search of further opportunities after falling behind Shane Mumford at the Giants last year.

The 26-year-old spent four years on Port Adelaide's list without playing a game before crossing to the Giants where he has played 51 matches in three years.

Lowden is also seeking further opportunities after making his debut after four years at the Hawks booting three goals in his only match against West Coast.
