Essendon captain Jobe Watson has sent a video message to members and fans to thank them for their ongoing support.
Following the media events of the weekend, the Essendon family has rallied behind the players on social media using the #proudlyessendon hashtag.
As the team prepares to embark on the 2014 season, the skipper revealed the unwavering support of the Essendon army continues to inspire the players.
“We’re proud to play for Essendon and we’re proud to have the supporters that we do,” Watson said.
“Supporting the bumps, the bruises, the goals and the tackles and every part of what it means to be putting on an Essendon Football Club jumper.”
Jobe is urging fans to become members, as the club aims to sign up more than 60,000 members for the first time in its history.
“The 2014 season is about to embark and like any year, there will be some challenges,” Watson said.
“But facing challenges with 60,000 members makes it easier for us. The players are proud that every time we go out on the field, we have an army of Essendon supporters there with us.”
Members and supporters can wish the players well for the 2014 season at the annual Family Day, which will be held at the True Value Solar Centre on Friday evening. For all the event details, click here.
