The Bombers are set to bring a virtual classroom to students across Victoria, launching The Flight Deck – an interactive digital learning platform providing users with unique content specific to the Essendon Football Club.
The Flight Deck has been built in partnership with prominent educational organisation Leaders of Evolution, taking advantage of its expertise and experience in customising online learning spaces for schools and sporting organisations.
The first program available via The Flight Deck will be released mid-year and provide an eight-lesson secondary physical education program. It has been developed from and digitises the highly successful Train Like a Bomber program traditionally delivered at the NEC Hangar and is aligned with the national curriculum standards.
From today, school teachers can register interest for the Train Like a Bomber digital program via email to flightdeck@essendonfc.com.au. More information, including a free trial, can be provided before the Victorian Term 3 release.
General manager of community Darren Harris said The Flight Deck was a significant opportunity for the club.
“The Flight Deck is an exciting new platform for Essendon to connect with its community through a contemporary learning environment,” Harris said.
“There is limitation to the number of schools that we can have visiting The Hangar or the time we can spending supporting the development of Academy players. Via the Flight Deck, we will be able to reinforce learnings and enhance development opportunities.”
The Leaders of Evolution experts combine their sport and education industry technical expertise with the proud Essendon Football Club brand and organisation IP, to engage and inspire a new generation of learners through The Flight Deck learning portal.
Co-founder at Leaders of Evolution, Damian Hecker, said the recent health issue in the community highlighted the importance of technology for educational purposes.
“Our experience in the education and sport sectors is the perfect combination to help EFC leverage their organisation brand and history through our three-year learning and development partnership,” Hecker said.
“The recent COVID-19 situation has only further highlighted the importance of future-proofing educational initiatives through technology and the Bombers are pioneering this approach at club land in professional sport. We are excited and proud to be working alongside them to achieve their goals.”
The move to a digital learning environment will enhance its offerings over the coming years and provide greater access for current program participants to with new users around the country. It will provide an online environment for a wide variety of users from the Essendon community including school students, Essendon’s Academy programs, community coaches and local clubs.
