Kids love their footy and here is another way to enjoy it with a great new book Pencil O’Reilly. Produced as part of the soon-to-be-launched Essendon Football Club literacy program, Pencil O’Reilly traces the journey of a young boy from country Victoria to the elite of Australian Rules Football and the Essendon Football Club.

The 140-page novel – which includes illustrations – is written by Jim Howe and is a great read for kids, particularly young Essendon supporters. “It is an inspiring story about a youngster who makes it to the top. I hope it drives young people to pursue their dreams,” is how Essendon captain Matthew Lloyd described the book.
