The Cook family have been treated to a money-can’t-buy experience, joining club legend Dustin Fletcher for an exclusive footy clinic and private tour of The Hangar thanks to Makita.
Bombers skipper Dyson Heppell also made a surprise appearance, posing for photos and answering questions about his footy career and his plans for the off-season.
“Meeting both of them was fantastic,” Janine Cook said.
“We had never been to The Hangar before and Dustin Fletcher is so easy going and made us feel so welcome and comfortable.
“The boys loved having a kick with him – it really was a dream come true for them.”
Cook, the Father’s Day competition winner, has been a dedicated Essendon Football Club member since 1976 and won the prize for sending in her favourite Bombers moment shared with a father figure.
“It was half-time at Adelaide versus Essendon in 1997,” she recalled.
“They announced the death of Princess Di over the speakers and dad sacrificed watching his Bombers to comfort me while I cried hysterically.”
The competition winner also received a Makita Tradie Pack valued at over $700.
“I just want to thank the club and Makita for the opportunity to look at the memorabilia and all of the facilities and to really get a good insight into how the club operates.”
