Adelaide continued its dominance for most of the final term, but Essendon can take some heart from the form of Joe Daniher.

The key forward ended with four goals to take his season tally to 34 (equal career high).

He also took 11 marks (including six contested and six inside 50m) and had 21 possessions.

Essendon lifted its kicking efficiency to 66% in the last term and kicked four of the last five goals in the match.

Daniher (10), Darcy Parish (11) and Zach Merrett (11) led Essendon for contested possessions.

Merrett (31), Goddard (29) and Cooney (23) were the leading ball winners.
