Essendon forward Patrick Ambrose will miss the next 1-2 weeks after undergoing surgery to mend a minor fracture in his jaw.

Ambrose, 22, sustained the injury during Friday night’s loss to Sydney at the SCG.

Club doctor Bruce Reid said Ambrose’s surgery was a success.

“Paddy had scans yesterday and they revealed he had an undisplaced fracture in his jaw,” Reid said.

“He underwent surgery this morning, it was a straight forward procedure and I would expect Paddy to miss between 1-2 weeks.”

The club will provide a full injury update at essendonfc.com.au on Tuesday afternoon.
