De-listed Demon and former Essendon Premiership player Chris Heffernan has been granted permission by the AFL to commence training with the Bombers next Monday. Essendon is considering picking up 26-year-old Heffernan in the upcoming national or pre-season draft - three years after he was traded to Melbourne in exchange for selection 10 (Jason Laycock).

And the Bombers are also seriously considering picking up former Hawthorn player Steven Greene. Greene will also commence training with Essendon next Monday and coach Kevin Sheedy is considering giving him a second chance at AFL level.

""I think he has a bit of quality about him and he averaged about 15 possessions per game with Hawthorn. I have always held him in high regard and I certainly like his running ability,"" Sheedy said.
