Essendon legend Mark Harvey has felt right at home at the Bombers since being appointed as an Assistant Coach of the club in October.
The premiership player and club legend spoke with Radio Sport National this morning and revealed he was thoroughly enjoying working with the playing list and members of the wider club.
“I’ve been here for six weeks now and I’m obviously really impressed with the facilities and the attitude of the players,” Harvey said.
“They’re a very experienced group and they know what they’re doing. Hopefully it makes coaching easier.”
With a later start to the 2015 season, Harvey revealed the team has eased into its pre-season routine with the assistant coach expecting the training loads to ramp up in the new year.
Harvey has adjusted well to life back at Essendon, enjoying being engrained in red and black and working with coach James Hird. since making the move from West Australia.
“This is the first time I’ve worked with him as a coach. (With) his knowledge and the way he talks to the players, I can really understand why the players hold him in high esteem,” he said.
Harvey said that the players were in very high spirits going into the Christmas break.
“It’s a very happy environment at the True Value Solar Centre with a strong work ethic, that’s what I’ve seen here.”
Harvey also encouraged all fans to come to the Christmas open training session on the 23rd of December to see the boys in training one last time for 2014.
