Essendon Football Club is mourning the loss of Geelong great Bob Davis, who passed away last night after a recent battle with illness, aged 82.
Essendon assistant coach Mark Thompson said the Australian Football Hall of Fame Member was a special football person.
“He was a very warm person and he had a keen interest in the good of the club,” Thompson said.
“He was great company and a great man and his entire family are wonderful people and he’ll be sadly missed.”
In 2007, Thompson coached Geelong to its first premiership since Bob Davis coached the Cats to victory in 1963.
“Ever since the 2007 premiership, we became very close and as a result developed a special bond together.”
