Dustin Fletcher showed he can hit a ball even further than he can kick one, winning the ""longest drive"" competition at the inaugural Bill Hutchison Foundation Charity Golf Day.
More than 90 keen golfing Bomber fans joined Essendon players at the Heritage Golf and Country Club for the event.
Sponsored by Dick Reynolds Club and Western Pacific Toorak, the winning team was made up of Ricky Dyson, Paul Donohue, Neville John and Russell Stucky.
The winning team members also work at Western Pacific Toorak.
While Fletcher unloaded a massive drive - which seems to be getting longer each time the story is told - other winners include Richard Neudert for the straightest drive, Pam Haddrell for nearest the pin on the 7th and Mr Arimoto on the 11th.
All funds raised go to the Bill Hutchison Foundation which works to prevent harm to women, children and young people, and to help those who are too often on the margins of our society – indigenous youngsters, kids from migrant communities and others who need support.
When it comes to being drafted into the AFL there isn't a young footballer in the country who would be too choosey. Any of 16 AFL teams would be fine because they would travel to Mars to get a chance at the elite level. But for Rhys Magin, the 2008 AFL Rookie Draft carried a huge bonus. Not only did it present him with a chance to show his wares at AFL level but he was picked up by the club he's barracked for all his life - the Essendon Bombers.
