Speaking at his media conference, Knights said he was hopeful Lloyd would play.
“I think we will have a much better understanding of where Matthew is at after today’s training,” Knights said.
“He is a very important player but we wont be taking any chance with him.”
Knight confirmed that Andrew Welsh and Angus Monfries are in contention - along with a number of Bendigo players - to replace Mark McVeigh and Sam Lonergan who are out injured.
“Andrew played three quarters for Bendigo and Angus is fine after suffering food poisoning,” Knights said.
“Angus called me last week to say he had been ill and wasn’t going to be able to play and that was when Tayte Pears got his chance.”
