LAST WEEK
The 32 point loss was hard to talk for Bombers fans, however, there was some consolation with the Fantasy scores as the boys defeated the Giants 1677 to 1461.
Four Essendon players cracked the ton, led by Brendon Goddard’s 32 disposals, nine marks and five tackles for a game-high 126 points.
Defender James Gwilt (92) was enjoying a great game, taking 11 marks to go with his 20 disposals before succumbing to a groin injury that saw him finish in the red substitute vest at the end of the third quarter.
Dyson Heppell (68) owners were frustrated with the midfielder’s quiet day. His 18 disposals helped bring his price down $15K to an even $500,000, the lowest he has been this season.
TOP 5 SCORERS V GWS GIANTS
- 126 – Brendon Goddard (FWD/MID, $518,000)
- 115 – Ben Howlett (FWD/MID, $368,000)
- 114 – Mark Baguley (DEF, $414,000)
- 100 – Brent Stanton (MID, $597,000)
- 92 – James Gwilt (DEF, $375,000)
ON THE RADAR
With some coaches facing a forced ruck trade this week, consider Jonathan Giles as a replacement for just $359,000. The extra cash saved will allow you to fix other areas of your ground in this first week of Fantasy finals.
A breakeven of just 47 due to his 90 points last round makes Giles a worthy consideration.
If you’re stuck down back or up forward, Shaun Edwards is coming off his highest score of the season with 88. So long as the vest is out of the picture, Edwards is a value pick at $219,000 with a breakeven of just 19.
WHAT’S COMING UP
The Bombers host the Crows in the first game on Saturday afternoon at Etihad Stadium.
Last time the teams met, back in round 14 last season, Brendon Goddard finished with 147 points due to a massive Fantasy game that saw him rack up 23 kicks, nine handballs and 12 marks.
Brent Stanton (103), Dyson Heppell (102), Jake Melksham (101) and Michael Hibberd (101) all cracked the ton in the nine point win.
