Paul Chapman is nearing full fitness as the Bombers prepare to take on Melbourne this week.
The Essendon forward has missed the last two matches.
“Chappy had a minor groin injury three weeks ago which we’ve let settle down, because he’s had a past history of groins,” Dr Reid said.
“When he aggravated a muscle a few weeks ago we decided to just get him right.”
Adam Cooney is being assessed after being subbed out against St Kilda.
The Brownlow medalist had a minor strain in his high adductor and was slightly restricted.
“We had to make the decision who to sub, he could have played on but we decided he was the one to sub because he wasn’t quite right and was a bit tight,” Club Doctor Bruce Reid said.
Cooney will have precautionary scans to determine the extent of the injury.
