2015 will be a year to build on, according to midfielder Alex Browne.
A knee injury saw Browne’s 2014 season cut short after impressing throughout the pre-season.
Having endured the long rehabilitation trail, the 23-year-old returned to the field this season, playing three senior games.
“It’s obviously disappointing I didn’t play more AFL games,” Browne said.
“But if I were to say I was going to play 22 games (VFL & AFL combined) after coming off a knee at the start of the year, I’d be pretty happy with that.”
Browne’s best game came against Port Adelaide in Round 17. He gathered 17 disposals, including a superb running goal in the Bombers’ narrow loss.
He said he was pleased to get his body through the rigors of a full season
“To gain that continuity and be able to read my body a bit better this year was a tick.”
Known for his agility and outside speed, Browne admits there are still several areas of his game he needs to improve over the off-season to lock down a spot in the senior side next year.
“I want to improve my contested ball. My ratio of uncontested to contested is probably a bit too low,” he said.
“Also I need to be able to make quicker and more decisive decisions with the ball, as well as getting back and helping the defenders in defence.”
