Ahead of tomorrow’s fixture announcement, we take a look at what games we might see next year.

What we know:

Round 1: Essendon vs. Gold Coast Suns, Metricon Stadium – March 26th, 2016

We’re on the road for round one as we head up to sunny Queensland to take on the Gold Coast Suns at Metricon Stadium. This will be the first time these two teams have met in round one and only the fifth time they’ve met overall. The Suns got up for a narrow win the last time the two sides met, so the Bombers will be out for retribution.

Round 4: Essendon vs. Geelong, MCG – ‘Country Game’

The inaugural ‘Country Game’ will be held in round four as Essendon and Geelong come together to celebrate the important contributions that people living outside the big cities make to the nation. A whole festival is planned with the MCG and Yarra Park set to be transformed.

Round 5: Essendon vs. Collingwood, MCG – April 25th, 2016

The annual ANZAC Day clash is always a highlight of the Bombers’ fixture and this year will be no different. Essendon has not won the game since 2013 when midfielder David Zaharakis also took home the ANZAC Day Medal.

Round 10: Essendon vs. Richmond, MCG – ‘Dreamtime At the G’

Now in its 12th year, the annual 'Dreamtime at the G' has grown from just a marquee game between Essendon and Richmond to a league wide celebration of Indigenous Culture and involvement in the game. This year the AFL has announced the entire round will be named after the legendary Sir Doug Nicholls – the first Indigenous player to represent Victoria at state level, and also great-grandfather of former Essendon player and life-member Nathan Lovett-Murray.

What we’re hoping for:

Rival Clashes:

Essendon will  be hoping to come-up against big rivals Carlton, Collingwood, Richmond and Hawthorn at least twice this season. Last year Essendon faced Collingwood, Hawthorn and Richmond twice so the addition of Carlton to the mix would be great for all fans to see.

Taking the show on the road:

The team travelled to Perth and Sydney twice last year, as well as a trip up to the Gold Coast to face the Suns. What was missing?

A trip to see all the great Bomber supporters in South Australia.

Essendon will hopefully play at least once against either Adelaide or Port Adelaide in the ‘City of Churches’ giving South Australian supporters the chance to see the team in action.
