New NAB Challenge recruit Jared Petrenko has today toured the True Value Solar Centre ahead of his first training session on Friday.
Flying into Melbourne earlier this morning, the former Crow was shown around by another new Bomber, and former teammate, Shaun McKernan.
“I spent about six years at Adelaide with Shaun, and he took me through the rooms with him today,” said Petrenko.
“It’s a very impressive facility and everyone has been really nice so far. But tomorrow we train with the full squad and get things underway.”
After being delisted by Adelaide at the end of 2014, Petrenko was unsure about the future of his football career and was surprised when he received the recent call-up from the Bombers.
“The last couple of years I probably didn’t enjoy my footy too much, but I’ve found that hunger again,” Petrenko said.
“I’ve really enjoyed the pre-season I’ve had with my local club back in South Australia. So hopefully over the next couple of weeks I’ll see if I really enjoy it as much as I used to.
“These are obviously very unique circumstances, but I’m very excited for the challenge. We’ll see how the next couple of weeks pan out.”
Petrenko was a handy player in his 76 games for the Crows between 2009-2014. With the ability to play in the midfield, or off the backline, Petrenko also has the ability to kick goals when necessary.
