Speaking to AFL Trade Radio yesterday, List Manager Adrian Dodoro had an update on several key Bombers including veterans Courtenay Dempsey and Brent Stanton.
Courtenay Dempsey:
A decision surrounding Courtenay Dempsey is yet to be reached.
The veteran defender will meet with new coach John Worsfold in the coming days.
“He’s had a couple of years where he has been relatively inconsistent with his footy,” said Dodoro
“By his standards and our standards he probably hasn’t presented in great shape.
“This has been a really good eye opener for Courtenay to just understand where his footy is at, and we purposely have left him unsigned so he can just sit down realise just how important footy is to him and he’s certainly done that.
“He’s responded to the challenge and certainly told us that he wants to be at the Club.
“He’ll speak to John (Worsfold) over the next few days, and we suspect that we’ll put something to him in the next couple of days.”
Brent Stanton:
A deal with the veteran midfielder may be just around the corner.
Stanton has played 248-games for the Bombers and enjoyed one of his best seasons to date in 2015.
“We’re in constant dialogue with Adam Ramanauskas (his manager). It’s contractual, it’s not that he doesn’t want to be at Essendon and we certainly want to keep him.
“We’ve just got some finer details of the contract to tick off, so hopefully we can get that done sooner rather than later.”
