Midfielder David Myers suffered a minor setback in his return to the VFL on the weekend, aggravating a knee complaint.
Speaking in the Recovery Room, Doctor Bruce Reid confirmed Myers felt some discomfort late in the match against Williamstown.
“David has a minor ITB friction syndrome, which is a tendinitis on the side of the knee,” Dr Reid said.
“He has developed it over the last two or three weeks and he’s been able to get through training, but he got very sore during the game and he was taken off and iced.”
The injury is a short term setback and Myers could return to the field in as soon as Essendon VFL’s Round 14 match against North Ballarat.
It was the 26-year-old’s first game since dislocating his shoulder in the opening match of the season.
Myers gathered 11 disposals, including seven tackles, as the VFL Bombers went down to Williamstown by 44 points.
